Welcome to the inner sisterhood and deep inner knowing.
Welcome to the inner whirlwind of grief and frustration.
Welcome to every hidden fantasy and every loud self criticism.
Every aspect of the feminine is invited on this unique dance through our one wild and precious life.
This magnificent set of Moon Goddesses are here to represent and reflect to us just a fraction of our potential
magical powers, hidden within everyday revelations.
Use them in ways that feel nourishing to you, to follow the ebbs and flows of the Moon Cycle herself, to reveal what is potent in particular moments or to
delve deep into innate wisdoms. There is no ‘right’ way.
The Nityas herald from South Asian cultures. They are a constellation of energies that have a long, if not somewhat hidden, history of devotion and worship.
The Nityas weave into different time periods, belief structures and in different clusters, sometimes omitting the Kali Nityas of the waxing moon (from Kali through to Mita) and repeating the more benevolent waning Lalita Nityas (Kameshvari through to Chitra).
I illustrated this unreserved, elusive sisterhood of Moon Goddesses between the Scorpio Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in May 2022 (with the Sun in Taurus) and the Taurus Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in November 2022 (Sun in Scorpio). I worked on each form only in their own unique energy field, on the night of their moon phase. As the paper became obsolete and the feminine figures emerged, they shared stories with me and welcomed me into a deeper understanding of their particular cyclical wisdom magic.
NOTE: I followed a set of descriptions about their physical appearance that guided me, for example with how many arms or faces they might have. The given descriptions include nakedness which felt so welcome in this moment of freeing the feminine, but do not include showing their vulvas, which many of my drawings do. That was my choice; it felt resonant that they be able to show their full selves unapologetically, and not in an antagonistic or sexual way,
simply celebrating all of who they are instead of what they have been allowed to be.
